Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard is out indefinitely because of a blood clot on his right calf. ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday that the star guard has sustained a deep vein thrombosis. According to Charania, Lillard is on blood-thinning medication. His current medication has helped stabilize the blood clot and regular testing will continue moving forward.
Lillard has lately missed three games in a row due to calf problems. Nevertheless, the recent diagnosis made his issues worse. Chris Haynes of TNT asked the All-Star point guard what he thought of the current reports regarding his condition.
The Bucks star had this to say:
“It’s unfortunate that something outside of my control would come up. Along with the Bucks’ medical staff, our priorities are to protect my health and safety. As much as I love basketball, I need to be there for my kids and my family. I’m grateful the Bucks acted quickly on this. They’ve been supportive and proactive throughout this process. I look forward to moving past this and continuing my career.”
