New York Knicks star guard Jalen Brunson has missed a significant portion of the past few games with an ankle injury. On Tuesday, the Knicks had a 105-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers without Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, who was listed as out due to a sore knee. Following the game, Knicks insider Ian Begley gave an update on a possible timeline for Brunson’s return from injury.
The two-time All-Star has missed 12 straight games and has a 7-5 record during that stretch.
“Jalen Brunson, still working his way back,” Begley said. “I think it’s a long shot for him to play at Cleveland the next game. But they have a couple of days off, then they go to Atlanta on Saturday. They’re home against Phoenix, Sunday.

“I think based on the trajectory and everything that’s gone on here, the weekend is a realistic landing spot for Brunson and his return – that Atlanta game, that Phoenix game. I think if everything continues to pace with his rehab, that’s the place where you’re looking for Brunson to be back on the court.

NBA News: New York Knicks big man had his first start of the season
The longest-tenured player for the New York Knicks, Mitchell Robinson, had his first start against the Sixers on Tuesday. With KAT on the sidelines, Robinson was ready to pick up the slack and provide for his team. The veteran big man had 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks against Philly.
After the game, Robinson knew that he had to perform well since the team didn’t have some of their key players.
“We had guys out, so next man up. That was the mentality.”

New York Knicks head coach gave credit to role players following the win

The New York Knicks’ win was a collective effort by the group. While OG Anunoby stepped up with his 27-point performance, head coach Tom Thibodeau gave most of the credit to Landry Shamet and Robinson.
“I think Landry’s been playing at a very high level,” Thibs said. “I thought Landry and Mitch gave us a huge boost tonight, particularly with guys being out.”
