The Phoenix Suns appeared to have momentum on their side heading into overtime on Friday night. The Suns outscored the Denver Nuggets 34-24 in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 125-125.
However, the Nuggets dominated the overtime period, outscoring a motivated Suns team that needed to steal a game in their quest to make the Play-in Tournament 24-16 in the game’s final five minutes. Denver escaped Ball Arena with a 149-141 win in front of 19,808 fans.
A battle of stars

Suns star Kevin Durant did all he could to keep Phoenix in the game, including scoring a last-second three-point shot to send the game to overtime. He finished with 29 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.
But it was Nikola Jokic who stole the show.
Jokic has an unbelievable game against the Suns, scoring 31 points and adding 21 rebounds, 22 assists, and three steals.

According to the NBA, Jokic became the first player to score 30+ points, add 20+ rebounds, and make 20+ assists in a single game. Jokic earned the milestone during the overtime period.

Should the Denver Nuggets star win the NBA MVP?

Jokic continues to make a case for the NBA MVP award this season. He’s averaging a triple-double per night at 28.8 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game. Jokic is averaging the third most points per game, third most rebounds per game, and second most assists per game in the Association.
Denver improved to 41-22 with the win and remain in third place in the Western Conference. The Suns fell to 29-34 and are 2.5 games back from the Dallas Mavericks for No. 10 in the Western Conference.
