The NBA ratings are down, and the numbers have proven what has long been talked about online—less people are watching basketball, and more people are losing interest altogether. While there could be a multiple layer of reasons for this, one journalist and critic have summed it down to one thing only: the NBA adapting “leftist culture.”
In one of the recent editions of his show “Fearless,” Jason Whitock discussed top reasons why the NBA is seeing the decline it’s seeing right now. He gave several reasons: load management, too many foreign players, lack of competitive spirit, and ultimately, he highlighted how the league leaning too much to the left have impacted its viewership.
“When you embrace a leftist mindset, that’s a mindset that is antithetical to competition,” Whitlock said. “At the end of the day what drives sports is great competition. We want to see athletes legitimately compete against each other. But when you have this leftist, ‘we’re all just going to grasp hands and we’re all in this together and we all may be teammates and well let’s do jersey swaps.’”
Whitlock went on to emphasize that leftist culture eliminates competition, which he says has been a founding pillar of American culture.
“It’s all leftist culture, there is no competition,” he continued. “America was built on competition—that’s what made us different. You got this leftist culture in the NBA and all of it is designed to take your competitive instincts out of you like what you saw.”
NBA Commissioner gets Blamed for League Decline: “This Falls on You”
With all of the talks about the NBA seeing the biggest decline in viewership in years, entrepreneur and host Patrick Bet-David had only one person to blame: the league commissioner, Adam Silver.
In one ot eh recent episode of his PDB podcast, Bet-Davis called out the commissioner and blamed him as the sole reason of what the NBA is going through these days, pinning him down by saying “it’s on you.”
“By the way Adam Silver [I have a] message for you: this falls on you,” Bet-David said. “You know why? David Stern was a great commissioner.
He added, talking about the recent anti-Trump statements of San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich in a post-game press conference: “Under David Stern we watched the game. Under you you’re okay with an owner talking like this, with a coach talking like this?”
He then criticized Silver and questioned his leadership of the NBA: “David Stern was not just a lawyer, he was not just a commissioner, but he was a leader you are not a leader, Adam.”
