Some trade rumors raise doubts about Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant’s future with the franchise. On Wednesday’s episode of “NBA Today,” NBA insider for ESPN Brian Windhorst verified that the Suns might trade Durant while discussing the potential outcomes for both parties.a
There were rumors that the Suns were prepared to let go of the 15-time All-Star before the trade deadline earlier in February, but none of the reported deals involving the veteran moved forward. The damage was done when the rumors pervaded the air, and now it is widely assumed that Phoenix will trade Durant in the summer.
“They’re gonna trade (Kevin Durant), and he knows that,” Windhorst said. “There’s been a couple of opportunities where he could’ve criticized them for trying to trade him. He has not done that, he has been professional about this.”

“In the offseason, he sort of, gave himself a little ad there,” continued Windhorst. “He’s like, ‘Whatever team gets me, you know I’m going to make a difference, I’m still in my prime.’”
The Suns are currently 11th in the Western Conference standings with a 27-31 record and are unlikely to make it to the playoffs unless they overcome their struggles. Their lack of success might affect their stars’ decision making whether or not to commit to them in future seasons.

Kevin Durant has made every effort to keep the Suns’ chances for a playoff appearance afloat. In the 45 games he has played so far this season, he is averaging 26.9 points on 55.3/38.1/83.7 shooting splits, 5.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.6 blocks, and 1.1 steals. Despite his best efforts, however, the Suns still lost eight of their last ten games.
Bill Simmons observes Kevin Durant’s behavior on the Suns’ bench
NBA analyst Bill Simmons recently had the opportunity to watch Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns up close. In their 120-109 loss against the San Antonio Spurs last Thursday, the longtime analyst observed the Suns’ bench and said it is alarming to see in person.

Simmons revealed that the players weren’t talking to each other, and not everyone would stand up to celebrate highlight plays their teammates pulled off on the court. He also talked about Durant’s behavior in front of the coaching staff, specifically head coach Mike Budenholzer.
“What are guys doing during timeouts? What happens when a star player walks by his coach? Does he acknowledge him, does he talk to him, does he just kind of stomp by? Does one of the star players yell at the coach? Well, KD yelled at Bud twice during that game,” Simmons said.
From what Simmons observed, it was not a good look.
