The New York Knicks are actively evaluating external options to bolster their depth at the center position. With Ariel Hukporti sidelined for several weeks and Mitchell Robinson’s imminent return on the horizon, the Knicks have their 15th roster spot open to leverage.
According to SNY’s NBA Insider Ian Begley, one such candidate is Moses Brown, who is currently on a 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
“One player on New York’s radar to fill its 15th roster spot is Moses Brown,” Begley wrote.
Moses Brown Linked to New York Knicks, Sparking NBA Rumors

Brown, a New York native and Archbishop Molloy High School alum, also spent time earlier this season with the Westchester Knicks. In his most recent outing, Brown notched 20 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks in a 103-96 win over the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.
“He was great,” Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd said. “Moses gave us a spark, gave us a big (presence) at the rim. We needed someone at the rim, and he did a really good job for us.”
Brown will get another chance to showcase his skill-set for the Mavericks on Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks before his 10-day contract expires. Kidd is confident that Brown will land another 10-day deal from another NBA team once his current agreement expires with Dallas.
“He’ll probably get another 10-day from someone,” Kidd said of Brown. “And give him credit for coming out as a pro and helping us find a way to win. The next game is his last game, and hopefully, he can play as well as he did tonight.”
The 25-year-old center, who has been in the NBA for six years and played for seven teams, has career averages of 5.2 points and 4.9 rebounds over 162 games, including 45 starts. Brown played for the Indiana Pacers on a 10-day contract earlier this season.
Moses Brown Faces One More Game with Dallas Mavericks

Brown remains focused on making a positive impact for whatever team he plays for. Entering his previous performance, he was focused on setting quality screens and doing the dirty work. It paid off for him despite being matched against Mark Williams as he entered halftime as the Mavericks’ leading scorer and rebounder.
“I haven’t started for this team, haven’t played for this team all year, so coming in, I just wanted to be a good fit, setting good screens, getting guys open,” Brown said after his last performance. “It was a big deal today. It feels good. I’m thankful for my coaches and teammates for giving me the opportunity.”
Due to salary cap constraints, the Mavericks cannot immediately offer Brown another 10-day contract, as they are hard-capped at the first apron. This makes Brown a viable option for the Knicks, who can sign him to a veteran’s minimum deal, with their team salary hard-capped at the second apron.
Begley also reported that before Hukporti’s injury, the Knicks had been eyeing T.J. Warren and Chuma Okeke as potential signings for their open roster spot. However, Brown would bring the necessary size in the frontcourt, giving New York multiple options if injuries reappear.
For the Mavericks, Anthony Davis (left adductor strain), Daniel Gafford (right knee sprain), and Dereck Lively II (right ankle stress fracture) remain sidelined. Dallas will re-evaluate each player on March 6, potentially clarifying return timetables if positive developments occur.
