The Phoenix Suns could see a few changes in their roster, especially in the offseason. Given how the 2024-25 NBA season turned out for them, the Suns could address certain changes over the summer. One of the changes the organization could do is trading away Kevin Durant.
During the trade deadline, Durant’s name was part of the rumored trade that would’ve sent him to the Golden State Warriors. However, the trade didn’t push through since the 15-time All-Star wasn’t interested in a mid-season trade.

Additionally, the Suns have underperformed, despite having the Big 3 of Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal.
NBA Rumors: The Phoenix Suns want to improve their roster
The Suns have gone 28-32 this season, which is good for 11th in the Western Conference. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday, the tough season the team has had could urge the organization to make significant changes.
“The stakes are high,” Charania said. “Unless there’s a significant run here into the playoffs for the Phoenix Suns, league sources believe that there will be real changes in Phoenix coming to the Suns.
Charania detailed that Phoenix could look to address their future with Durant.

“From a roster standpoint, that likely starts with Kevin Durant. When we look back at the trade deadline, we remember Durant was blindsided when he was involved in trade conversations.
“But this offseason, from my understanding, is the Suns and Durant would work together on any potential trade to a contender in a trade scenario.”
With how they performed, the Suns are unlikely to be in the playoffs. It’s only right for the team to address their plans for the future.
NBA Rumors: Phoenix Suns star linked to another West team

One of the players who has been greatly affected by the dysfunctional season for the Phoenix Suns is Booker. The All-Star guard is the longest-tenured player on the team and has expressed his loyalty to the organization. Unfortunately, the recent lack of success has generated NBA rumors that the former Kentucky guard might not stay in Phoenix that long.
According to Bleacher Report’s Zack Buckley, the Houston Rockets could play a significant role in dictating the future of Booker in Phoenix.
“The Rockets have held “longtime interest” in Booker, per The Athletic’s Sam Amick, David Aldridge and Anthony Slater, and might still view his scoring and shot-making as their final puzzle pieces,” Buckley wrote.
Without Booker, the Suns could go back to the unfortunate years of lackluster success that they suffered after Steve Nash left in 2012.
