The Brooklyn Nets small forward Cam Johnson is attracting interest from the Kings and Thunder, sources tell Marcus Thompson from The Athletic and Senior NBA Writer Sam Amick.
Johnson can get his own bucket and has gotten better defensively. He has three years left on his deal and is only 28 years old.
What Cam can bring to the Thunder
All that the Thunder are missing is three-point shooting. Johnson is shooting a career 43.6% from three-point range this season.
OKC has centers that rebound, score, and make plays. A pure scorer in point guard Shai Gilgeous Alexander that makes plays. A second option in Jalen Williams and Chet. Defense in Alex Caruso, Lu Dort and Holmgren.
Sacramento’s current situation
The Kings could try to recoup some young talent and picks from Houston or San Antonio, and you still have shooting guard Malik Monk, center Domantas Sabonis, rookie Devin Carter now, and shooting guard Keon Ellis, plus Cam Johnson hypothetically. They can still try to convince point guard De’Aaron Fox to stay and compete.
It does not help that the Kings are 16-19 this season and they fired head coach Mike Brown. Point guard De’Aaron Fox has been in trade rumors.
