The NBA has dealt with issues this season regarding viewership, officiating, load management, and now the All-Star game.
LeBron James made a decision at the last minute to not play in the All-Star game, citing an injury that would set him back. This was highly criticized (start at 17:34) because of a replacement that could’ve played in the game.
The main contest seems laughable at this point, with more air time being used for concerts, comedians and ceremonies.
The Saturday night event has proved to be the best event in terms of entertainment. This year featured a hilarious moment with Chris Paul and Victor Wembanyama throwing around basketballs on purpose to get the fastest time to win the Skills Challenge.
The Sunday night main event showed some promise as more competitive than the traditional East-West matchups, from new numbers being released, it’s pretty clear that a once generational product is now down the drain.
New Statistics Show The NBA All-Star Game is an Embarrassment
Fans at home were probably all thinking the same thing.
More air time was used for concerts and jokes more than actual basketball, and new numbers actually prove that the main event on Sunday night actually flopped more than helped the NBA’s failing popularity.
NBA All Star Weekend Summary:

This really puts the All Star weekend into perspective of the NBA season itself. The long amount of commercial time which correlates with the seven timeouts each takes away from the fun of the game itself.
Kevin Hart might’ve been on the microphone for too long, with many fans on social media calling for the NBA to cut off his air time.
The NBA did a ceremony on the “Inside The NBA” crew for their hard work all of these years, which was appreciated, but doing it in between the game made it a long awkward pause before we finally returned to action.
Another stat by ClutchPoints really puts the commercial time and game time into perspective as another project by the NBA that ended up being a complete flop.
The NBA All-Star Game had almost 5x more commercials and breaks than actual basketball.
