The New Orleans Pelicans put up an admirable in the most recent playoffs, but their efforts were eventually moot as they didn’t manage to take even a single game in their first-round series against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Jose Alvarado was one of the key rotation players for the Pels against the Thunder, but he failed to impose his will against a young Thunder squad that was built better than their roster.

The guard had a poor outing in his second postseason appearance, averaging a meager 1.8 points in his four postseason appearances. However, he still lived up to his Grand Theft Alvarado monicker by notching 1.3 steals to go with his 1.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists.
It seems like Alvarado was frustrated with how the season went because he balled out for Puerto Rico during the Olympic Qualifying Tournament. He played so well that he shared a great moment with Carlos Arroyo after booking their tickets to Paris.
New Orleans Pelicans’ Jose Alvarado shares moment with Carlos Arroyo after Puerto Rico books ticket to Paris

Alvarado was the man for Puerto Rico’s epic run at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament. He was doing everything for the 12 Magnificos Los Gallos throughout the competition, and his efforts eventually bore fruit when they took down Lithuania to book their ticket to the Games.
When the game was decided, Alvarado went to his head coach—who also had a successful NBA career—to savor the moment.

Sports Illustrated’s Josh Wilson also took note of the other things Alvarado did to celebrate the momentous win:
Afterward, Alvarado walked his children across the court, taking in the moment with them, and jumped on the scorer’s table to hype up the home crowd.
He shared another awesome moment receiving the MVP award for the San Juan Olympic Qualifying Tournament, inviting his teammates to celebrate with him.
Jose Alvarado was unstoppable during the OQT, averaging 16.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.3 steals a game. If he manages to continue his great form into the Olympic games and the coming NBA season, he’ll be able to get a fat contract come the 2025 offseason.
