The New Orleans Pelicans made waves with their recent acquisition of All-Star point guard Dejounte Murray. The 27-year-old will be joining a star-studded lineup alongside Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and CJ McCollum as the Pels look to make some noise in the West this coming season.
As it turns out, however, one of these aforementioned stars might not be part of New Orleans’ plans for 2024-25.
New Orleans Pelicans to Part Ways With Brandon Ingram?
Despite the addition of Murray to potentially solve the team’s backcourt issues, the Pelicans still have a number of holes to fill. According to Christian Clark of NOLA.com, Brandon Ingram could be used as the centerpiece of a trade package to net the Pels a big man:
“New Orleans’ biggest need is a starting center. It’s possible the Pelicans move Ingram to address that hole. The Pelicans would love to add Jarrett Allen, a low-maintenance rim protector and lob threat who is on a team-friendly contract. It’s unclear if the Cavaliers are willing to part with him,” Clark wrote.
Another name that Clark mentioned is Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz, who appears to be available. The Jazz are reportedly standing firm on their high price tag for Kessler, but it appears that an Ingram-centered offer could entice Utah to the negotiating table.
Either way, it appears that the Murray trade is just the tip of the iceberg for the Pelicans. Expect New Orleans to be busy in the coming weeks.
