The New York Knicks made history during last night’s 91-90 Game 2 stunner against the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, at TD Garden.

Just like in Game 1, the New York Knicks erased a seemingly unassailable deficit by kicking things up a notch in the final period, with Mikal Bridges securing the victory with a defensive stop in the final possession.

According to Opta Stats, the New York Knicks are the only team in the last 25 seasons to stage a successful comeback from a 20-point deficit in back-to-back road games (regular season or playoffs).

Josh Hart led the team with 23 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks on 9-for-15 shooting from the field. Karl-Anthony Towns and Jalen Brunson had 21 and 17 points. Mikal Bridges scored all his 14 points in the fourth period.

The New York Knicks are poised to win the series, as they will return to Madison Square Garden with a 2-0 lead. However, Karl-Anthony Towns believes their job is far from finished.

“It means we’re up two-zip. It doesn’t really mean anything,” Towns said via SNY TV. “We can’t take anything for granted.”

“This team, it’s just special. The guys in here, we stay connected, even through the bad,” he continued. “We just never quit. We truly play to the last horn. We leave it all on the court and let the result be what it is.”
