Former New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony had one of the best achievements of his basketball career. Although he didn’t win a championship during his time in the league, Anthony was still considered one of the best stars. Because of that, he was a star for multiple years, making All-NBA and All-Star selections during his time. With that, he was announced to be one of the players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.
On Saturday, it was announced that Anthony will be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, not once, but twice.

The 2008 USA Redeem Team, which the 10-time All-Star was also a part of, will also be inducted into the hall. His teammate from the Olympic team, Dwight Howard, will also be immortalized during the summer.

Ahead of the Knicks’ game against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday, Melo received a tribute from his former team. The organization played a video dedicated to Anthony, recognizing what he did for the franchise and the game of basketball. As the camera focused on him, the former star of the New York team got up from his seat and acknowledged the gesture.
Fans gave him a standing ovation as they cheered for one of the most important achievements of Anthony’s career. Watch the video below to see the New York Knicks fans honor the NBA great.

Anthony played for the Knicks for seven seasons. During his time, he led the team to three postseason appearances. He averaged 24.7 points, seven rebounds and 3.2 assists with the New York franchise.
Anthony wants his jersey retired with the New York Knicks and the Denver Nuggets

Anthony had some of his best years with the New York Knicks. However, before he was part of the New York franchise, the star forward was doing damage on the offensive end with the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately for the former star player, his breakup with the Nuggets wasn’t beautiful.
Even with that, however, Anthony still wants the team that drafted him to consider retiring his No. 15 jersey. The former Syracuse star mentioned that he’d want to see both organizations retire the jersey numbers he wore with them.
“So we’ll see,” Anthony said about the Knicks retiring his jersey number. “But I would love to see that, man. For me it’s like, why wait? You know, it’s why wait? If you got to think about it, then cool, just let it be.”
“I would like to see that jersey in both rafters, Denver and New York,” Melo added.

Retiring his jersey number with the Knicks would be an easy task. However, it could get tricky with the Nuggets since he shares the same number with three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, who wears No. 15.
