The New York Knicks reclaimed their homecourt advantage with a 118-116 win in Game 3 of their first-round best-of-seven series against the Detroit Pistons.

After two uneven performances at Madison Square Garden, the New York Knicks put up their best collective performance last night at Little Caesars Arena.
For the first time since 1972, New York had four players with at least 20 points in the same playoff game, according to Zach Braziller of The New York Post.

Karl-Anthony Towns led all scorers with 31 points, eight rebounds, two blocks, and four three-pointers on 10-for-18 shooting from the field. Jalen Brunson had 30 points, seven rebounds, and nine assists on 9-for-20 shooting and 11-for-13 from the free throw line. OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges combined for 42 points.

New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns, among others, was miffed by the bizarre ending of Game 3. When Tobias Harris hit a three-pointer to make it 117-116, the Detroit Pistons sent Jalen Brunson to the free throw line with 0.5 seconds left.

Brunson converted the first free throw and missed the second on purpose. However, the final buzzer sounded before anyone got the rebound, and the referees eventually gave the ball to the Detroit Pistons on the sideline with a chance to win. Fortunately for New York, Jalen Duren threw a bad pass to Cade Cunningham.
“I ain’t going to lie to you, man; shoutout to the (scorer’s) table, man. Giving your team another chance like that is fire,” Towns said via ESPN’s Chris Herring. “I got to give them a lot of respect for that. I’ve never seen that in 10 years of basketball.”
