New York Knicks fans thought their team would lose some of their edge when Isaiah Hartenstein left Manhattan to fill the gaps in an exciting Oklahoma City Thunder roster.
Hartenstein’s departure from the Knicks wasn’t received well by fans. The big man made the right choice in playing for a team that stands atop a fiercely competitive Western Conference, but even he admits that leaving the team wasn’t as easy a decision as he thought.
Josh Hart is surprisingly vocal when it comes to Hartenstein’s decision to leave the Knicks. While he did joke that his former teammate is ‘dead’ to him, he understands that the league is still a business and Hartenstein did what was best for him and his family.
While the Knicks’ dynamic all-around star is preparing for their upcoming clash against the Thunder, he couldn’t help but unleash a quick jab toward his former teammate.

The sixth player to have consecutive triple-doubles in Knicks history was quite candid with his answer when asked about the prospect of facing his former teammate. He said that the money he bagged with the Thunder should make him an easier matchup against his former team.
Per ClutchPoints’ Jedd Pagaduan:
“This will be a good test. The big man (Isaiah Hartenstein) got paid this summer, so he should be a little slow on his feet and slow trying to protect the rim. We should be able to go at him,” Hart told reporters following the Knicks’ win over the Jazz, via SNY’s Knicks Videos on X (formerly Twitter).
It may seem like an uncalled-for comment, but New York Knicks fans know that Hart and Hartenstein had a productive partnership during the latter’s stint at Madison Square Garden. The Eugene, OR native averaged 6.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists during his two-year stint at the Big Apple.
Hart and the rest of the Knicks roster knows that they need to play their best if they want to win over Hartenstein and his Thunder squad.
