Jalen Brunson isn’t a name that immediately comes to mind whenever “NBA superstar” is mentioned. However, the New York Knicks guard has since proven that he’s one of the best players in the league.
Brunson has developed from a promising running mate to Luka Doncic in Dallas into a bona fide superstar in Manhattan. His outstanding play, attitude, and willingness to do anything that would help the team build the strongest roster it can have won over many Knicks fans in the two years he’s been with the squad.
These factors made Brunson one of the most beloved athletes in New York right now, and the team will be behind them as they try to make the Finals in the coming season.
While the team is preparing to make a postseason appearance, NBA 2K25 has recently come out with ratings for its top 100 players. Some fans may find it problematic that Jalen Brunson isn’t rated among the league’s top ten ballers, and one analyst attempted to make his case.
Analyst explains why New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson should get a higher ranking on NBA 2K25
Jonah Morgan of Athlon Sports believed that Brunson deserved to get more than the 93 overall rating he got from the 2K rating team:
He averaged just under 29 points per game this past season, and he did so on some fantastic shooting percentages. Brunson was able to lead the Knicks to the second round of the playoffs, despite injuries to a number of the team’s stars.
All of the players that are in the top 10 deserve to be higher overalls, but is hard to argue against the season Brunson had. Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis comes in at a 94 overall, and while he is a great player, his team did not make it past the first round of the postseason, and his numbers did not jump off the page as much as Brunson’s.
Brunson did stand out as the key cog in the Knicks roster this season, and he was vital in helping Tom Thibodeau realize his strategies last season. He finished his second year at MSG averaging 28.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists on 47.9% FG and 40.1% 3FG.
Knicks fans will be hopeful that Brunson uses this as motivation to perform better and lead the Knicks to a playoff appearance.
