Josh Hart is a big reason for the success the New York Knicks are having in the 2024-25 NBA regular season.
Last Tuesday, the former Villanova Wildcats guard showed why again with an incredible all-around performance in the Knicks’ 128-113 takedown of the Dallas Mavericks at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Against the Mavericks, Hart stuffed the stat sheets with 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field, 12 rebounds and 11 assists while adding two steals in 33 minutes. It was his ninth triple-double this campaign, which also meant he just set a new franchise record for most trip-dubs in a season. He broke his tie with New York legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Clyde Frazier, who had eight triple-doubles during the 1968-69 season.
“I didn’t envision this. This is more than I ever dreamed of,” Hart said (h/t Chris Herring of ESPN), as he reflected on his incredible feat.
It wasn’t just Hart, though, who had a triple-double in the Mavericks game, with big man Karl-Anthony Towns putting up 26 points to go along with 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 34 minutes.
New York Knicks failed to follow up win vs. Mavericks with another

The Knicks, however, were not able to sustain their momentum, as they fell prey to Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday at home via a score of 126-113. Hart only had seven points with six assists and five boards in the loss while Towns’ double-double of 34 points and 14 rebounds were wasted in a defeat.
The 45-27 Knicks can recover right away from that loss when they meet the Milwaukee Bucks on the road this Friday.
