New York Knicks do-it-all guard Josh Hart had quite a night at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday against the visiting Philadelphia 76ers. The former Villanova Wildcats star put together a sparkling performance, though, he painfully fell short of completing a 20-20 game that would have made his showing even more memorable.
Josh Hart Trolls Tom Thibodeau After Helping The New York Knicks Defeat The 76ers
Hart finished the game with 20 points, 10, assists, and 19 rebounds. He was just a board away from a 20-20 outing. It is not always that a guard gets that many rebounds in a single game, let alone during a triple-double performance. Hart probably would have pulled down his 20th rebound had he played more minutes versus the Sixers, who fell prey to the Knicks to the tune of a 106-79 score.
Via Fred Katz of The Athletic:
“That would be nice, but Thomas Thibodeau wanted to take me out of the game. Everyone complained about me playing 40 minutes. I could have gotten my 20-20 game, but he takes me out. So, appreciate it Thomas.”
Hart has always been a terrific rebounding guard, but injuries to the Knicks frontcourt has also provided more reason for him to be aggressive on the glass. So far in the 2023-24 NBA regular season, Hart is averaging 9.1 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. One interesting note about Hart in the Sixers game is that he had more rebounds than Philadelphia’s starters, who only had 15 boards.
