New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is eager for his new opportunity within the team following the news of Isaiah Hartenstein’s move to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 26-year-old big is the only center with a guaranteed contract currently on the roster, and he took to Instagram with a picture of him and the caption: “Got something cooking up just wait” on his story.

Robinson is coming off yet another injury-riddled campaign, as he only played 31 regular-season games during the 2023-24 season, averaging 5.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.1 blocks per game on 57.5 percent shooting from the field. But to his credit, he returned in the postseason, playing behind Isaiah Hartenstein, with averages of 2.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 19.2 minutes per game.

This summer, New York couldn’t keep Isaiah Hartenstein because of their salary cap situation after re-signing OG Anunoby to a lucrative extension and trading for Mikal Bridges, so Robinson has a big year ahead of him in 2024-25.

New York Knicks’ Donte DiVincenzo chimes in on Mitchell Robinson’s  new opportunity

Donte DiVincenzo recently spoke to the reporters during a meet-and-greet as part of his sponsorship with Revo Sunglasses about Isaiah Hartenstein’s departure and Mitchell Robinson’s place in the rotation. The one-time NBA champion said Robinson is capable of filling in for Hartenstein.

“I think he hears the outside noise with everything and I think he’s going to use that as motivation,” DiVincenzo said via Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.

“Whatever team we have, I think we’re going to be very good. No matter what happens the rest of the offseason, I think overall everybody is going to come back and get better. I think with (Tom Thibodeau) there’s always a foundation, it doesn’t matter who is on the court,” he added.
