New York Knicks Star Josh Hart on Isaiah Hartenstein’s Free Agency Move to Oklahoma City Thunder: ‘He’s Dead to Us’

Isaiah Hartenstein was a key piece for the New York Knicks over the past couple of season. This is exactly why the Knicks faithful were sad to see him go after the 7-foot center decided to walk away from New York in favor of a big-money deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Hartenstein’s former teammates obviously aren’t delighted with this development as well. For his part, Knicks star Josh Hart is clearly feeling a bit salty about Hartenstein’s abrupt exit.

In the end, the Knicks just couldn’t compete with the amount of money OKC had on the table for Haretnstein. This came out to $87 million for three years, which is a massive pay hike compared to the $9.2 million he pocketed from the Knicks last season.

Ultimately, Hartenstein just couldn’t turn down that much money. You can’t really blame the 26-year-old for looking out for himself and his family.

Hart, however, is having none of that:

“He’s dead to us,” Hart said of Hartenstein on a recent episode of the Roommates Show.

Hart is a pretty funny guy and you just know that he was kidding here. There’s no denying that Hartenstein’s exit stings for the Knicks, though, especially after all that they’ve went through over the past couple of years.

Hart is just being brutally honest here with his own brand of comedy. While there is indeed some pain there, it’s also true that Hart is happy for his ex-teammates getting the bag in his new deal with the Thunder.
