Jalen Brunson is entering the final guaranteed season of his current contract with the New York Knicks. The All-Star point guard has a player option on his deal for 2025-26, which is why the Knicks front office will want to act swiftly in terms of locking up their cornerstone superstar for the foreseeable future.
As it turns out, a new deal could be forthcoming. According to a new report, Brunson could be on the brink of putting pen to paper on a massive extension as early as this week.
New York Knicks News: Jalen Brunson Considering New Deal

Per Legion Hoops on X, formerly Twitter, the Knicks have a $157 million extension on the table for Brunson, who is eligible to sign a new deal by July 12. The big catch, however, is that Brunson could potentially lock up a much bigger payday if he waits another year:
“The Knicks can offer a 4-year, $157M extension to Jalen Brunson this Friday, and he is reportedly considering signing it, per @FredKatz.
“If he decides to not sign it, he can sign a 5-year, $269M next summer. (via @RealGM),” read the report.

If Brunson decides to push back his extension to next summer, he could potentially earn roughly $53.8 million per year with his new deal. That comes out to a $14.5 million variance per season if Brunson opts to sign an extension now.
