Despite being with the New York Knicks for just two seasons, there’s little doubt that Jalen Brunson will go down in history as one of the greatest point guards to ever don a Knicks jersey.
Brunson joins a long line of all-time greats who have repped New York at one point in their career. This includes four-time All-Star Kemba Walker, who recently announced his retirement from the NBA.
New York Knicks News: Jalen Brunson Gives Kemba Walker His Flowers

Walker’s stint with the Knicks came later on in the 6-foot point guard’s career. He spent just one season in New York during the 2021-22 campaign, averaging 11.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 25.6 minutes per game.
Despite the fact that Walker was no longer the star he once was when he linked up with the Knicks, Brunson still had to give the 34-year-old his flowers:
“Kemba, congrats on a great career, man. You were an inspiration to a lot of people,” Brunson said in a recent episode of the Roommates Show (h/t HoopsHype). “Much respect to your career and everything. I just had to say that out there.”

There are a number of similarities between Walker’s and Brunson’s games. Both are undersized guards with explosive scoring prowess. In fact, it would not be surprising if Walker was one of the players Brunson looked up to early on in the latter’s career.
As Brunson said, Walker served as an inspiration to many, and it sounds like Kemba had this type of impact on the Knicks star as well.
