Even though the New York Knicks have checked a number of items on their to-do list this offseason, they still have some more to accomplish. For one, they are still searching for a way to cover the void left by Isaiah Hartenstein, who has already been signed by the Oklahoma City Thunder via NBA free agency.

According to SNY’s Ian Begley, the Knicks tried to kick the tires on a potential trade that would get New York Clint Capela of the Atlanta Hawks.
“Clint Capela Atlanta was one big that the Knicks checked in on. I don’t know how far talks went. I don’t know if they’re active at this very moment. But they did check in on Capela”
It is unclear what direction the Hawks will take in the coming season, though, they still have their franchise cornerstone in Trae Young. But the talent around him doesn’t seem to be good enough to challenge the best teams in the East.
The New York Knicks are built to win but can still add a major piece

The Knicks, on the other hand, are clearly on a mission to win right away. They have the Villanova Core to lean on and adding a big man like Capela would give New York yet another shot in the arm.
Last season, Capela, the 25th pick overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, averaged 11.5 points and 10.6 rebounds plus 1.5 blocks per contest.
Capela will also not require a long-term commitment from the Knicks as he has one more year left on his deal which will get him $22.26 million in the 2024-25 NBA campaign.
