The New York Knicks were supposed to make a deep run in the 2024 playoffs. Not only did they have one of the best records in the Eastern Conference, but they also looked good doing so.
Their fans believed it was high time for the Knicks to finally make a deep playoff run that could threaten the Boston Celtics’ reign as the best team in the East.

However, their season came to a screeching halt after the Knicks lost Game 7 to the Indiana Pacers in a series that their fans would describe as perplexing. While the injury bug has greatly affected the Knicks’ effectiveness, it didn’t stop their critics from roasting the fanbase for their obnoxiousness throughout the playoffs.
While many Knicks fans are crying over what could have been an epic season for the Knickerbockers, one of their biggest fans shared his honest thoughts on the team’s disappointing season.
Stephen A. Smith points to Jalen Brunson’s injuries for the New York Knicks’ heartbreaking loss

Everyone knows that Stephen A. Smith is a Grade-A fan of the franchise. He supports the team through thick and thin and isn’t shy about making bold claims about his team. To call him a proper representative of the New York Knicks fans is a fair assessment.
After the Knicks’ 130-109 defeat to the Pacers, he blamed the injury Jalen Brunson sustained as the straw that broke the Knicks’ postseason hopes.
Per ClutchPoints’ Ryan Bologna:
“After all these damn injuries already suffered, now I just heard Brunson fractured his thumb. Damn! Thanks for the season @nyknicks. There’s only but so much we can overcome,” Stephen A. Smith said on X.
Brunson only played 29 minutes during his team’s do-or-die game. He finished the night with 17 points and nine assists on 6-for-17 shooting, with his injury obviously affecting his performance.
The New York Knicks were depleted by Game 7

The team had to look elsewhere for their points, and Donte DiVincenzo stepped up to the plate. He finished with the most points for the Knicks with his 39 points, with 27 of those coming from the three-point line.
Josh Hart, who stood out as one of the team’s breakout performers throughout the postseason, ended Game 7 with a somewhat quiet 10 points. eight rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
The team were already dealing with key losses in Mitchell Robinson and Julius Randle, so for them to still put up a fight with their roster is impressive in an of itself.
However, the New York Knicks also know that spirit can only take a team so far in the postseason. To win in the postseason, teams also need a bit of luck. Unfortunately for them, they didn’t have any of that against the Pacers.
