Renowned New York Knicks supporter Stephen A. Smith is in a great mood after learning Mikal Bridges is headed to the Big Apple via a trade with the Brooklyn Nets.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks will get Mikal Bridges and a 2026 second-round pick from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for five future unprotected picks, a top-four protected 2025 first-round pick via the Milwaukee Bucks, and a 2025 second-round pick.
“Now I know that ya’ll are sitting out there and saying, ‘It’s Mikal Bridges. He’s a good player, but it ain’t like ya’ll got KD or somebody.’ Bump all that! Okay?” Stephen A. Smith said via his X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Chemistry matters. Reliability matters. Consistency matters. Defense matters. The brother can shoot. The brother can play. I’m sorry! I like this move by the New York Knicks. He’s young, energetic, and seasoned. He defends and fits right into the culture of the New York Knicks, and that’s all I ask. You crawl before you walk baby. We crawled last year. We’re gonna walk, and we’re close to sprinting” he added.
Because of the trade, Mikal Bridges will finally reunite with his former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart.
Mikal Bridges will make the New York Knicks even better
The New York Knicks made it to the Eastern Conference semifinals this season. But they came up short against the Indiana Pacers in seven games, primarily due to fatigue and injuries.
Fortunately for them, Mikal Bridges is one of the most durable players out there because he hasn’t missed a single game since high school. Furthermore, his outside shooting and defensive acumen are perfect for head coach Tom Thibodeau.
Mikal Bridges is coming off a solid year with the Brooklyn Nets this year, averaging 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game on 43/37/81 shooting splits.
