Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic is being poised by fans and analysts as one of the top contenders for this season’s MVP, as he continued to dominate the court not only in performance but also in numbers. With that said, the Serbian player casually addressed the expectations of him getting his fourth MVP award.
In a post-game interview following the Nuggets’ showdown with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Nikola Jokic talked about the idea of him possibly getting another MVP award.
“This is my third or fourth year in a row, so ‘I’m really — I can’t control it,” Jokic said. “I will say, I think I’m playing the best basketball of my life, so if that’s enough, it’s enough.”
However, should the tide ultimately turn in favor of his rival over the Thunder, Jokic still thinks that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is deserving of the MVP title.
“If not, the guy deserves it. He’s really amazing,” Jokic said.

Nikola Jokić has won the NBA MVP award consecutively for two seasons, in 2021 and 2022. He also won the MVP award again in 2024, making it three MVP titles in total.
Analyst Makes Case About Nikola Jokic MVP Argument
Fans and analysts have been debating on the case of the regular season’s MVP to be either Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder or Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. For analyst Michael Saenz, the ultimate choice would most probably be SGA, for one good reason.
“I’m not a proponent of voter fatigue, but it’s certainly a very real thing,” the analyst wrote. Considering that Nikola Jokic has won three of the last four NBA MVP awards, this is something that is going to be in the back of the minds of voters.”
“No one will admit it, but I’d imagine it’s going to play a factor in SGA getting a few more votes than perhaps he would’ve against another player who hasn’t won as many MVPs as Jokic has of late.”

During their most recent game with the OKC Thunder, Jokic scored 35 points, grabbed 18 rebounds, and dished out 8 assists, leading the Nuggets to a 140-127 victory. Jokić’s impressive stat line included shooting 15-of-20 from the field and 1-of-2 from beyond the arc.

In their recent game against the Phoenix Suns, Nikola Jokic logged a historic 31 points, 22 assists, and 21 rebounds. This was the first single-game stats of the 30-20-20 range in NBA history and also broke the record of Wilt Chamberlain in most assists in a single game by a center, which stood since 1968.
