The Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the favorites to compete for the Larry O’Brien trophy in 2024-25, especially given the moves they’ve done during the summer. One of them was trading Josh Giddey for Alex Caruso, giving them another elite perimeter defender alongside Lu Dort.
During the team’s most recent practice on Tuesday, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shared what it’s like to be teammates with Alex Caruso, and the Oklahoma City Thunder superstar described the one-time NBA champion as “annoying as hell.”
“Exactly as it’s been in the past: annoying as hell,” Gilgeous-Alexander said via Brandon Rahbar on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Pesky, picks you up full court, get underneath you. Then offensively, he makes the right play, the smart play.”
“Like I said before, he’s such a good player and a smart player and is easy to plug in any team, and we’re fortunate it’s our team,” he added.
Alex Caruso relishes Oklahoma City Thunder reunion
Alex Caruso’s move to the Oklahoma City Thunder is a full-circle moment for him since he has played for their G League affiliate, and his head coach back then was Mark Daigneault.
“No ego. No pride. He’s willing to say I’m wrong. A big reason why he’s had success and the team has had success. Really just happy to be back with him,” Caruso said about Daigneault during media day.
Alex Caruso is coming off a solid 2023-24 campaign with the Chicago Bulls, averaging 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.7 steals on 46.8 percent shooting from the field and 40.8 percent from three-point land in 71 regular season games (57 starts).
With the additions of him and Isaiah Hartenstein, the Oklahoma City Thunder have higher expectations for themselves this upcoming campaign.
