The Oklahoma City Thunder used to have the Big Three of Russell Westbrook, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony. However, that trio never led the Thunder to the ultimate goal of winning an NBA title. Anthony played just a season with the Thunder but despite his short stint in OKC, he had fun there.

In a recent episode of the 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony & Kid Mero, Anthony also opened up about the absence of a defined role for him in Oklahoma City.

“I didn’t have no role in OKC, no role it was “Melo you gon figure it out” and I was like nah I can’t figure [expletive] out. what you want me to do. I’m taking darts and I’m the 4th [option] on the team. I still know what I can do, let’s keep this [expletive] going,” Anthony recounted on George’s Podcast.
The Thunder acquired Anthony in the 2017 offseason via a trade with the New York Knicks. The Knicks sent Anthony to Oklahoma City for big man Enes Kanter, former Creighton Bluejays star Doug McDermott, and a 2018 second-round pick.

In one season with the Thunder, Anthony averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while shooting just 40.4 percent from the field through 78 games. Oklahoma City made the NBA Playoffs that season but was eliminated in the first round by Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz.
After the 2017-18 NBA campaign, Anthony signed with the Houston Rockets. He would also go on to play for the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers before retiring in 2023.
