It appears that Oklahoma City Thunder star Chet Holmgren has been victimized by the media aggregating one of his quotes. The 22-year-old recently took some flack from Miami Heat fans after his comments about their home arena.
Holmgren has now spoken out about this whole controversy as he explains his side of the story.

For starters, below Holmgren’s quote that went viral.
“I like Miami, because it’s just like empty,” he said, via NBACentral on X, formerly Twitter. “… As the away team you just got to build that lead in the first three quarters and then it just stays quiet for the fourth.”

If you read those remarks without any context, it would be easy to assume that the 7-foot-1 big man was having a dig at the Heat and their fanbase.

Holmgren has now broken his silence as he clapped back on what he has labeled as a “chopped up” report. According to the Thunder youngster, his quote was aggregated to make it look like he was taking a shot at the Heat faithful.
“Y’all get mad when nba players never have anything to say to media, but then chop our quotes up to get reactions. I was saying the seats r empty until the 4th quarter when fans come back from the lounges after a few drinks and the atmosphere is great for close games. Its actually a compliment…” he wrote on X.

That clears it up, I guess?
Either way, you can be sure that Heat fans are going to be a bit hostile the next time Holmgren and the Thunder come to town.
