The latest win by Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics has sparked yet another viral discussion on social media involving the legendary 1992 Dream Team.
On X (formerly Twitter), user NBA Strife ツposted a wild claim after Team USA’s 95-91 win over Serbia on Thursday that the Michael Jordan-led Dream Team at the 1992 Barcelona Games would’ve defeated the 2024 Serbian team by 50 points. That post also seems to suggest that compared to the Dream Team, LeBron James and the 2024 USA unit are tremendously inferior to the 1992 squad.
Not everyone is buying that notion, though.
Here are some of the replies from fans online who pushed back on it.
“NBA Players the Dream Team Faced the Whole Tournament (8 Games): 10 NBA Players on Serbia: 8 Moving on 💀💀”

“They would’ve lost by 50 stop the dumb s–t 😂😂😂”
“Jokic would have had 300”
“50, no – but would have won for sure. Serbia is very good and would give any team problems. I wouldn’t disrespect Serbia like that – they are good!”
“The dream team wouldn’t even be in the finals right now bc the league and international competition is far beyond anything those guys could imagine…stop with the stupid nostalgia”
“The dream team would have lost by 23. Go watch the videos of the folks usa played against back then. Had dudes getting off their shift driving the Bus to play against the dream team back then 🤣”
There’s no definitive answer to the question about which United States Olympic team is better. It will always circle back to debates like this. That being said, the 2024 Team USA surely needs to win the gold if it wants to stay in that conversation.
The Americans will face France on Saturday for the gold.
