Team USA got the job done at the Olympics in the CIty of Light. LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and the men’s basketball squad of the United States defeated France in the finals of the tournament at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the gold on Saturday.
When USA Basketball’s official X (formerly Twitter) account posted an image of Team USA stepping up to the podium to claim the gold, it captioned it with the following words: “Are we the World Champs now?,” it sparked a ton or reactions, with many social media users thinking that the post was an indirect shot at American star sprinter Noah Lyles, who is a leading proponent of the school of thought that doesn’t recognize NBA champions as world champions.
In any case, Team USA had the last laugh in Paris after beating France to the tune of a 98-87 score. Curry came through for the Americans again, following up his heroics in the semis against Serbia with a 26-point explosion on Saturday. Jevin Durant and LeBron James also chipped in 15 and 14 points, respectively.
“He really got into your minds… Noah Lyles won the gold in the 100 meters, the most noble event of the Olympic Games. In addition, he won a bronze while he was sick with Covid. He won SIX world championships, now that’s winning the world.” – @SinceroJordan.
