Seeing Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant put on a great show at the Olympics against Serbia isn’t a normal occurrence these days. This prompted his Team USA teammate Stephen Curry to drop a beautiful take on his game against the Nikola Jokic-led squad.
In a highly anticipated matchup at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Team USA, led by superstars LeBron James and Durant, cruised to a dominant 110-84 victory over Serbia and reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic.

Despite trailing early, the United States stormed back, largely thanks to Durant’s stellar performance. The Phoenix Suns star scored 23 points, including a perfect 5-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc, and single-handedly changed the momentum of the game when he entered in the first quarter. James also made his mark, contributing 21 points, nine assists, and eight rebounds.
Jokic, the face of Serbia’s national team, scored 20 points, but was unable to overcome the depth and star power of the American squad. The win sets Team USA up well for the rest of the group stage, providing a much-needed confidence boost after a close call against South Sudan in their pre-Olympic exhibition.
As the Olympic basketball tournament progresses, all eyes will be on James, Durant, Curry, and the rest of Team USA as they seek to claim their eighth gold medal in nine tries since the introduction of NBA players to the Olympics.
Stephen Curry Drops Beautiful Take on Kevin Durant’s Team USA Dominance Against Serbia in the Olympics

After the game, Curry faced the media and answered several questions from them. Among the many things he talked about was Durant’s performance, as seen in an article written by Aris Barkas for Eurohoops.
“That’s the beauty of this experience,” Curry said. “Rekindling some old flames with KD. Playing with guys I’ve never played before like LeBron James and Anthony Davis and the rest of the crew that we have. I’m having the time of my life and enjoying every minute of it.”
“Nothing he does is surprising,” Curry commented. “Being so perfect in the first half. He had 21 or something like that. It’s special and he’s so used to this stage. He’s the all-time lead scorer in the USA Basketball history for a reason.”
“It’s great to see him,” Curry added. “I know he’s chomping at the bit all exhibition window to get out there so it’s great to see him play, have fun and enjoy the group.
Even at age 35 and enduring a career-threatening injury back in 2019, Durant can still play at an elite level for the United States. Just last season, the Suns forward averaged 27.1 points on 41 percent shooting from deep, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.

If Team USA is aiming for the gold in Paris this year, they’re going to need a healthy and able Durant to give them a boost in offense. Fortunately, Curry is liking what he saw from his former teammate against Serbia, and hopefully, until the very end of their run in the Olympics.
