LeBron James added yet another accomplishment to his incredible basketball resume after Team USA defeated Victor Wembanyama and France in the finals of the Olympics men’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Paris Games.
The four-time NBA Most Valuable Player and Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward now has three Olympic gold medals on top of a bronze. Will he be taking another shot at a gold medal four years from now when Los Angeles takes its turn to host the world’s biggest sports event?
For now, James does not think he will be part of Team USA in 2028.
Via the official website of FIBA:
Can you see yourself playing in LA? “Nah, I can’t see myself playing in LA. But I also couldn’t see myself playing in Paris. Four years from now, no, I can’t see myself playing.” – LeBron James, USA
James will turn 40 years old in December and he’ll be 43 by the time the Los Angeles Olympics comes around. But based on how James has been handling himself on the floor with and against much younger players, one can’t just shut the door on the potential of James to appear at the Olympics again.
In Paris, James averaged 14.2 points, 8.5 assists, and 6.8 rebounds per contest. His 23.5 efficiency was the best among all Team USA players.
In what could be his final Olympic game, James scored 14 points and added 10 assists, and two steals with a block while shooting 6/10 from the field against Le Bleus.
