Respectively, four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and Katie Ledecky have been dominating at the sport they’re playing in the Olympics. But when the two superstar athletes met in Paris, tons of hype were generated in the process.
In a historic performance at the 2024 Tokyo Olympics, swimmer Katie Ledecky has solidified her status as one of the greatest Olympians of all time. With her latest victories, Ledecky has now amassed 14 Olympic medals, including nine gold, making her the most decorated U.S. female Olympian ever.
Ledecky’s dominance in the pool continued as she earned gold medals in the 200m, 400m, and 800m freestyle events. She also contributed to the gold-medal-winning 4x200m freestyle relay team. With these achievements, Ledecky surpassed the previous record of 12 total medals held by legendary swimmer Jenny Thompson.
Meanwhile, Curry made his Olympic debut at age 36, joining a star-studded Team USA squad that includes Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant and Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James. Despite their individual accomplishments, Curry emphasized the team’s singular focus on winning the gold medal.
According to the Golden State Warriors guard, Team USA is all about winning. He added that they got to adapt quickly, leave their egos behind, and they know it doesn’t matter who scored the most in a game.
With Ledecky’s historic accomplishments and Team USA’s championship aspirations, the 2024 Tokyo Olympics are shaping up to be a thrilling showcase of American athletic excellence.

Like Ledecky, Curry has accomplished so much throughout his entire NBA career. During that period, he has become a four-time NBA champion, two-time MVP, NBA Finals MVP, and 10-time All-Star. Curry also holds numerous NBA records, particularly in three-point shooting.
Having Curry and Ledecky in one moment may not be possible without the Olympics in Paris this year. It only shows that the sporting event is truly a memorable occasion for athletes of this magnitude to meet under one roof and bask in the glory of what they have achieved in their respective sports.
