The Orlando Magic has done an amazing job in the 2024-25 NBA season. However, injuries have plagued them recently, hindering them from showing their full potential as a team. Forward Mo Wagner was the latest player on the roster to get the bite from the injury bug.
On Saturday, the Magic defeated the Miami Heat 121-114. In the first quarter, however, Mo Wagner had to leave the game after suffering a left knee injury. Following that, he underwent an MRI scan, which revealed that he had torn his ACL, ruling him out of the season.
After suffering the injury, Magic’s head coach Jamahl Mosley spoke about the emotions he felt for Wagner.
“It broke me a little bit. I teared up as I watched Moe go down because you watched the work that he’s put in and you watched the tear he was on. He was in the running in my mind for Sixth Man of the Year,” Mosley said. “The energy he brings to this team, the toughness he brings to this team, it shook me a little bit. That’s the reality of it, but to be able to control the emotions, you kinda gotta let them go in those moments because we’re in the human being business, we’re in the relationship business. For us to be able to know what he’s going through, you’ve gotta be able to express that, regardless what is seen or heard. You have to be able to express that for your guys and for your team.”

Wagner has played 30 games this season for the Orlando Magic, coming off the bench in all but one game. The German big man has provided the much-needed scoring punch with his 12.9 points and 4.9 rebounds.
Who are the other injured players for the Orlando Magic?
On Monday, they play against the defending champions, the Boston Celtics. However, they could face a tough battle against the Celtics as they have a short-handed list of players.
Aside from Wagner, the Orlando Magic has submitted three other players as part of their injury report. Mo’s brother, Franz, has been listed as out due to a torn right oblique. All-Star forward Paolo Banchero is also listed as out for the same reason. Guard Gary Harris is out because of a left hamstring strain.
Out of the four players in the injury report, three of those are among the top contributors for the Magic.
