UConn Huskies legend and Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers shared her source of motivation and inspiration as an athlete, something that is connected to her faith.

In a video, Paige Bueckers talked about her faith and her habit of reading devotional books that impact her outlook not only in life overall but specifically in how she navigates being an athlete.

“My faith is important to me. It’s what keeps me grounded, keeps me humble,” she said. “I read a couple of my devotionals. God X Basketball is one of the books that I read. I pray. And then listen to some music.”

This is dope & God is good! It took a lot of convincing from God for me to finally write God X Basketball. He assured me basketball players needed a book to bring them closer to Him.

God X Basketball is a book written by Nick Graham, designed as a devotional guide for athletes seeking to integrate their faith with their basketball careers. The book emphasizes that while basketball is a lifestyle, it is not life itself—God is.

Through a series of basketball-themed devotionals, Graham encourages players to develop Christ-led character on and off the court, discover a deeper purpose in sports, and allow faith to guide them through the highs and lows of their athletic journeys.

Bueckers, a standout college basketball player, credits the book with helping her maintain confidence and perspective in her career. Other athletes have also found inspiration in Graham’s message, using the book as a tool to strengthen their faith while navigating the pressures of professional sports.

Beyond individual players, God X Basketball has contributed to broader conversations about faith in sports, reinforcing the idea that athletic success should not come at the expense of personal and spiritual growth.

    Devotional Author Thanks Paige Bueckers

Nick Graham shared the video and expressed his appreciation for Paige Bueckers finding inspiration from his book.

“This is dope & God is good!” he said in his post. “It took a lot of convincing from God for me to finally write God X Basketball. He assured me basketball players needed a book to bring them closer to Him.”

“Little did I know PaigeBuckers would feature it as one of her GQ essentials for pre-game ritual! God’s plan is always bigger than ours.”

Bueckers is the overall No.1 pick for the 2025 WNBA draft and was drafted by the Dallas Wings. She spent her final college season still with the UConn Huskies and brought the team their 12th NCAA Championship title.
