Paige Bueckers was recently inducted into the Huskies of Honor, the highest recognition someone from the UConn basketball program could receive. Former UConn star Nika Muhl was at the event and had praises to say about the young college star guard.
In the event following the Huskies’ blowout win against Marquette, Nika Muhl praised Paige Bueckers not only for her skill but for being humble.
“That’s my twin. That’s my best friend. That’s my sister,” Muhl said. “That’s family for life. What struck me at first with her was how confident, yet humble she is. And to this day, I feel like she is the most humble person I have ever met.”

Nika Muhl had an impressive college career at UConn, where she set several records and earned numerous accolades. During her junior season (2022-23), she stepped up as UConn’s primary point guard, setting both the UConn single-game and single-season assist records with 15 assists in a game against NC State and 284 assists for the season.

In her senior season (2023-24), Muhl continued to excel and became UConn’s career assist record holder with 686 assists. She started all 39 games, averaging 6.9 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting a career-high 46.2% from the field and 40.2% from three-point range.

Paige Bueckers, on the other hand, has long been the apparent first pick for the upcoming WNBA draft. She has long been linked to the Los Angeles Sparks but with the Dallas Wings winning the lottery for the first pick, she is now expected to get drafted by the franchise and soon make her way to Texas.
Paige Bueckers Praised by Huskies HC
UConn Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma praised Paige Bueckers for her performance in the team’s blowout win against Marquette, 92-57.
“That’s what you want to happen, games like today where it’s your game, it means a lot,” Auriemma told reporters. “You want to show your best version of yourself. It doesn’t always work out that way.”
“You always want it to be special and I think today certainly was for her.”

“But sometimes it does, and for Paige, this season has flown by so fast like they always do. But she’s on the right track right now. You always want it to be special and I think today certainly was for her.”
The game also marked the Huskies’ last home game of the regular season and also saw Bueckers’ name and jersey inducted on the Huskies of Honor wall inside the Gampe Pavilion.

So far this season, Paige Bueckers averages 18.7 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
