Paige Bueckers’ UConn Huskies head coach Geno Auriemma, does not seem too optimistic about her playing for the Dallas Wings in the WNBA. Bueckers will be entering the WNBA draft this year, and the Dallas Wings have the no. 1 pick and might be trying to bring her into their roster.
In a recent article by Front Office Sports, Geno Auriemma was asked if the Dallas Wings have spoken to him about Paige Bueckers. To this, Auriemma mentioned that he has been approached by a number of teams and coaches who are curious about his players. However, he did not exactly give an optimistic response about where his star player will go after her time with the UConn Huskies.
“No, I have not. Some GMs during the course of these last 20 years will contact me to talk about players. Coaches will as well. They’ll come to practice. They’ll come to games. Struck up a relationship with a bunch of them. Some I couldn’t pick ’em out of a lineup and they draft my players and don’t even ask me anything about the kids. So, I know that kid won’t be there long. So, I don’t worry about it.” Geno Auriemma said according to Front Office Sports about Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.
Meanwhile, it will take some time for Paige Bueckers and the rest of the UConn Huskies to step down from the clouds after their team defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks in the NCAA finals to eventually win the championship.
