Former UConn star and Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers got a social media tribute from her Huskies family, and she had the perfect reaction to it.
Over at Instagram, the UConn Huskies page posted a highlight reel in tribute to their star player, Paige Bueckers, who now stepped up to the pros and was recently drafted to the WNBA by the Dallas Wings.
“Thank you, Paige 💙” the post’s caption read.
“Well damn,” Bueckers wrote in a comment, which also contained a crying emoji and a broken heart emoji, highlighting her getting emotional over the tribute.

Paige Bueckers joined the UConn Huskies in 2020 as the nation’s top recruit, and she quickly made her mark by earning prestigious awards like the Wooden Award and AP National Player of the Year as a freshman.
Her junior year was marred by a torn ACL, forcing her to miss the entire season. Yet, she came back stronger as a redshirt junior, leading UConn to another Final Four and averaging over 21 points per game. In her final season, Bueckers capped her collegiate career by guiding the Huskies to their 12th NCAA championship.

Bueckers had an impressive college career at UConn, playing in 123 games and averaging 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. She maintained a 53.1% field goal percentage, a 42.3% three-point shooting percentage, and an 85.0% free throw percentage throughout her time with the Huskies.

In a statement following her getting officially drafted by the Dallas Wings as the overall No. 1 pick, Paige Bueckers expressed her excitement in starting a new chapter with a new team, and in a new city.
“The conversations [with the Wings] were brief, but just for them to know that I am coming in and wanting to give everything I have to that organization,” Bueckers said. “Dallas is a sports city, so I’m super excited for the support, the new wave of being there, being in a new city, being with a new team and conquering those challenges as a group. We’ve got great pieces, a great ownership, great GMs, great coaches. The entire organization from up to down, I’m extremely excited for it.”

For her final season with UConn, Paige Bueckers averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. She maintained an impressive 53.4% field goal percentage, and her dominating court presence helped bring the Huskies to their 12th NCAA Championship.
