Paolo Banchero, Orlando Magic forward, is itching to get back on the court after his injury last month. In an October game against the Chicago Bulls, Banchero tore his right oblique. The Italian-American player is yet to fully recover, but is keen on playing soon as per a recent interview with Marc J. Spears.
“I don’t know how guys do that. I really don’t because it drives me crazy just being on the bench. But you got to do it. That’s been the hardest part, just having to sit there every game.” Banchero said.
Banchero is definitely feeling left out of the Orlando Magic, with the team currently ranked fourth in the Eastern Conference after winning ten games and losing seven so far in the season. Yesterday, the Magic took on the Los Angeles Lakers and won against them with a tight score of 119-118. In that game, Anthony Davis put up 39 points, while LeBron James grabbed another 31 points for the team.
Paolo Banchero has been a solid part of the Orlando Magic after joining the team in 2022. After Banchero’s injury, Orlando clearly missed his presence and lost five games in a row. Still, the team somehow managed to get back on the horse and have been remarkable ever since.
As per Banchero, the player aims to make a return to play before Christmas, ensuring a sweet present for the Orlando Magic. While mentioning this in the interview, Banchero also goes on to say that his return to playing before Christmas has not exactly been officiated by the medical team.
Orlando Magic Struggling To Perform Offensively Without Paolo Banchero
The Orlando Magic have leant on Paolo Banchero strongly over the last few years, ever since the forward’s induction into the team in 2022. Banchero injured his right oblique last month in a game against the Chicago Bulls, and is yet to make his return to the court. After Banchero’s temporary exit from the tournament, Orlando’s offense toppled.
The team suffered a five-game losing streak immediately after Banchero left. However, the team has made a smart decision to ensure that they get back to the winning side. Instead of mainly focusing on their offense, the Magic have concentrated their effort into defense in Paolo Banchero’s absence.
The strategy clearly worked with the Magic winning five games out of six in the NBA Cup – Group Stage alone. Their last victory came against the Los Angeles Lakers when Orlando won with a final score of 119-118.
