The Dallas Mavericks shocked the NBA world when the Luka Doncic trade to the Los Angeles Lakers occurred. The Mavericks received center Anthony Davis, shooting guard Max Christie, and a 2029 first-round pick.
Chandler Parsons says that trading Lakers point guard Luka Dončić might not be Nico Harrison’s worst move. “Not resigning Jalen Brunson to a $55M extension could be worse than trading Luka Doncic.”
Both were terrible decisions, but Luka was their franchise player. Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson was lost for nothing, setting the franchise back, but they somehow overcame it to make a finals appearance two years later.

Thoughts About the Luka Doncic Trade
The NBA is no stranger to shocking trades and bold moves, but the decision to trade a rising star like Luka Dončić left many in the basketball world scratching their heads. As power brokers around the league were left bewildered and conspiracy theories began to circulate, fans and analysts alike were left questioning the motives behind such a move.
It is clear that this move has raised eyebrows among insiders and fans alike, and Tuesday’s game between the two teams only added fuel to the fire. Watching Dončić shine in a Lakers jersey must have been a bitter pill for Mavericks fans to swallow.
The Mavericks Losing Jalen Brunson
Brunson was drafted by the Mavericks in 2018. The star wanted to stay in Texas for several years, but received better offers from the New York Knicks in the following market, signing with the franchise.

The Mavs refused to offer a four-year $55 million extension for Jalen Brunson, who would go on to become an All-NBA player for the Knicks. This was a horrible decision for the Mavs that they regret.
Kristaps’ Time with the Mavericks
Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis was one of the first real unicorns and it seemed intriguing to pair him alongside a generational talent in Luka, but they were a questionable fit. His tenure was plagued with injuries, and he could never get into a rhythm.
