Former Milwaukee Bucks player Patrick Beverley won’t face criminal charges after his incident with an Indiana Pacers fan during the last NBA playoffs. After a thorough investigation, the ultimate decision was that no charges would be filed against Pat, and the investigation would be closed.
NBA insider Mike Vorkunov posted the announcement on X from a Marion County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson. The office, along with Indiana’s police department, investigated the video footage showing Beverley confronting the Indiana Pacers fans during the Bucks’ Game 6 in the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs, which Milwaukee had lost.
“Patrick Beverley will not face criminal charges for his Game 6 incident with a fan in Indianapolis. A Marion County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman told @ShamsCharaniaand me it won’t bring charges after it reviewed the Indy PD investigation and it has closed its own investigation.”
The incident occurred when Pat threw a ball into the fans of Indiana. The ball hit a woman, and then the person beside her threw the ball back to Beverley. The once-Bucks guard responded by hurling the ball harder to the fans. He then sits down, continuing to diminish the fans. This led to Gainbridge Fieldhouse security stopping Beverley. All the events were recorded, and some were shown on live TV.
The 3rd-seeded Milwaukee Bucks and the 6th-seeded Indiana Pacers faced each other in the 2024 NBA Playoffs. Unfortunately for the former, their two stars were injured and missed several games. Ultimately, the latter team dominated their opponents, advancing to the second round.
Patrick Beverley was traded to the Bucks last February with an average of 6.0 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds. For his actions during the match with the Pacers, the 2012 EuroCup MVP was suspended for four games. For him, the decision to suspend him wasn’t fair. Knowing he can’t do much further in the NBA, Beverley switched to another league, signing with Hapoel Tel Aviv this June.
Patrick Beverley’s switch to the Israeli Premier League: What to expect?
Patrick Beverley’s new team is expected to give him $2 million. It could be even more if he performs excellently and offers Hapoel Tel Aviv a championship in the Israeli Premier League. He’s also been given a mission to help the team qualify for the EuroLeague.
Last IPL season, the Hapoel Tel Aviv lost to the Hapoel Jerusalem in the quarterfinals. Beverley’s entry into the former team can change their fate next season.
