Philadelphia 76ers are down, but not out of contention to make the Play-In Tournament following their 142-110 loss to the Eastern Conference’s 10th-place Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
The 76ers had a 20-37 record entering their matchup with the New York Knicks on Wednesday. The 76ers have struggled this season due to Joel Embiid’s knee injury.
The Philadelphia 76ers have had a disappointing start

However, Embiid’s teammate, Paul George, is accepting of some of the blame for the 76ers’ issues. During an appearance on PodcastPShow, George said he plans to take a break from the business of podcasting in order to get his body and mind right for a championship run.
“Fellas, it’s no secret this season is up to this point, man, it hasn’t been what we envisioned,” Paul said. “I know my goal when I first signed with Philadelphia was to bring a championship to these amazing fans here. I still remain positive about that, and that is still the case and where I’m coming from.
“With that being said, though, I want to let the podcast P family know that after today’s episode with Dwight, I plan to take a break from the pod just to focus on getting my body right, get mentally right, and help this squad make a push towards our goal to finish the season. I’ll give ourselves a chance to be in contention to compete for a championship.”

Can a healthy Paul George make a difference?

At 34, George is averaging 16.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game this season. His numbers are significantly down from last season when he averaged 22.6 points per game.
The 76ers had high expectations that a roster with Embiid, George, and Tyrese Maxey could compete for a championship. Unfortunately, Embiid’s injury has been a major setback for Philadelphia.
It’s unlikely that a more focused Geoge will make a difference in the 76ers’ postseason hopes without a healthy Embiid.
