The Philadelphia 76ers are dead serious about their mission to win an NBA title as soon as the 2024-25 NBA season. By agreeing to a deal with Paul George, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Sixers showed just how focused they are on that mission to bring home a title to Philly with a huge NBA free agency move.
Paul George lands with the Philadelphia 76ers after Kelly Oubre Jr. development

George declined his player option with the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2024-25 campaign which was worth $48.79 million before electing to agree to a deal with the 76ers, who has scored a major free agency win with the nine-time NBA All-Star now headed to the City of Brotherly Love.
Wojnarowski also noted that the signing of forward Kelly Oubre Jr. to a new deal with the 76ers was a key step toward the team securing George’s commitment.
One important development late Sunday for George, sources said: the Sixers’ agreement on a two-year, $16.3 million deal with shooting guard Kelly Oubre Jr. The 76ers also reached agreements with veteran guard Eric Gordon and center Andre Drummond on Sunday, sources said.

Oubre was initially signed by the 76ers in 2023 on a one-year deal worth $2.89 million, which was a huge bargain given the play he had for Philly last season when he averaged 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists across 68 games.
George, on the other hand, posted averages of 22.6 points and 5.2 rebounds for the Clippers last season.
With George joining the 76ers, Joel Embiid gets a proven and elite two-way wing weapon to help lighten up his burden — on both ends of the floor.
