Fans Pile on Paul George For Underperforming Without Tyrese Maxey And Joel Embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered their fifth consecutive loss on Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets. The Sixers have fallen to 20-34 for the 2024-25 NBA season following a 100-96 defeat. The highlight for Philly was Paul George, who underperformed without his co-stars Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid.

George was the lone star for the Sixers and there was an expectation that he’d do most of the heavy lifting. However, the veteran star finished the game with two points, six rebounds and four assists. Offensively, the nine-time All-Star wasn’t aggressive as he only shot 1-for-7 from the field. From the 3-point area, he had five attempts but wasn’t successful.

Because of his poor shooting, he tried to contribute to the defensive end. George ended the game with two steals and three blocks.

Before his outing against the Nets, George has struggled to make significant contributions to the team. In his last five performances, the forward averaged 11.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists on 44.7% shooting from the field. That includes two games where he played and finished with less than 10 points.

After his subpar display against Brooklyn, fans couldn’t help but criticize George.

“Worst contract in NBA history,” one fan cited George’s four-year, $211.6 million max contract with the Sixers.

“N***a got the max too 😭” another fan remembered the star’s contract.

“Still has more podcast episode than buckets in philly,” one fan commented.

“Just retire bro, killing what ever legacy he had”

“This dude doesn’t even care. He’s gonna go work on his podcast during the all star break”

“Is PG the worst contract in the NBA?”

“They gave a max to a worse version of Tobias Harris”

“That contract is starting to look really bad. That is a horrible stat line and they somehow managed to lose to the Nets 🤦🏼‍♂️”

Paul George gets mocked by former NBA player

The recent display of Paul George wasn’t the best but it caught a lot of attention. One of they people who saw the final stat sheet was former player Kendrick Perkins. The 2008 champion went to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his thoughts on George.

Perk went as far as to compare the performance of the six-time All-NBA to himself.

“Do PG even wants to play basketball?! I would think no Joel Embiid or Maxey that he would give the 76ers more than Perk Stat Line,” Perkins posted.

During his playing days in the league, Perkins wasn’t known for his scoring prowess. He finished his career averaging 5.4 points and 5.8 rebounds. However, he averaged only 3.0 points in the final year of his career.

The current ESPN analyst had to bring up his stats to show how George performed.
