Paul Pierce confidently thinks that the current Team USA men’s basketball team roster is the greatest in the nation’s Olympic history. He’s sure today’s players are way more incredible than the 1992 Dream Team.
The 10-time NBA All-Star, currently an analyst at the show UNDISPUTED, has defended the current debate between Lebron and Curry’s Paris version of Team USA and Jordan and Bird’s Barcelona version.
“This [2024 Olympic Team] would dominate the [1992] team… Who’s gonna guard LeBron? Style of play would have been too much for this Dream Team… Who’s gonna guard Steph Curry? John Stockton?”

Pierce believes that the 1992 Dream Team lacks the capability to play defense against the current Olympic team, which relies more on offensive plays.
The Celtics champion also added that the players in Barcelona are all weary and can’t play in their prime anymore, including Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. He said Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were the only players who could play better for the team.

Pierce and his fellow commentators then discussed who was playing who; suppose 1992 and 2024 went to a match against each other. For LeBron, they said that it was either Charles Barkley or Scottie Pippen, but Paul picked the former. For Curry, it was either John Stockton or Michael Jordan. For Durant, they all picked Karl Malone.
The Team USA’s lineup back in Barcelona was one, or, as everyone calls it, the nation’s most notable Olympic roster.
They dominated the whole campaign. Not only did they go undefeated, but they also had a whopping average margin of victory of 44 points. It comprised NBA legends Jordan, Bird, Johnson, and more. In the finals, they defeated Croatia, winning the gold medal for the USA.

Paul Pierce’s insights are being brought to life after Team USA’s match against Serbia
Team USA started their Parisian campaign by dominating Serbia 110-84, thanks to Kevin Durant and Lebron James. It was a poor start for the team, but thanks to the former’s near-perfect shooting, the game shifted in momentum. Some people argue that the Dream Team would not face the same struggles as the current one.
Team USA will face South Sudan next. In the exhibition match, the latter almost defeated the former if it wasn’t for James’ game-winning shot. It ended 101–100 in favor of the USA but sparked tons of criticism from the people.
