US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth found a defender in broadcaster and journalist Megyn Kelly, as the latter defended his appointment to office due to his qualifications, rather than because of DEI.
In her recent appearance on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” Megyn Kelly gave her honest take on the DEI-related criticism thrown towards Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who program host Smith criticized for being only “a weekend reporter from Fox.”
“Let me just start by saying Barack Obama was a community organizer,” Kelly said in response. “That’s it. He had no executive experience.”
“Pete was hired because of his military service and his then after his military service, his years devoting himself to helping vets through concerned Veterans for America and another charity group that he formed to help veterans get their voices out there in politics, but he served at GMO. He left Princeton voluntarily and enlisted so that he could help fight after 9/11.”
“Nobody leaves Princeton to join the armed forces,” she continued. “Nobody—but Pete did. Then he volunteered again to go to Iraq during the most dangerous time. This is when people were being beheaded in Iraq.”
“And that’s one of the reasons why Trump chose him.”

Pete Hegseth Faces Pentagon Leadership Crisis Amid Leaks and Firings
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been embroiled in controversy following a series of classified information leaks and high-profile firings within the Pentagon. Reports revealed that Hegseth used the Signal messaging app to share sensitive military details, including war plans and airstrike schedules, with unauthorized individuals, such as his wife and personal lawyer.

The leaks triggered an internal investigation, leading to the dismissal of several top officials, including his chief of staff, Joe Kasper, and senior advisers Dan Caldwell and Darin Selnick. Critics argue that Hegseth’s lack of experience in managing the Pentagon has contributed to the turmoil, with concerns about national security risks and internal instability.

The controversy has sparked calls for Hegseth’s resignation, with some lawmakers questioning his ability to lead the Department of Defense. His tenure has been marked by purges of senior officials, particularly those linked to Biden-era diversity initiatives, and a push to reshape the military into a more aggressive combat force.
Despite the growing backlash, President Donald Trump has continued to support Pete Hegseth, dismissing criticisms as politically motivated. Some analysts believe that Trump’s loyalty to Hegseth stems from their shared ideological vision, making it unlikely that he will be removed from his position anytime soon.
