The Philadelphia 76ers may have exited the NBA playoffs early, but Joel Embiid’s season is far from over.
When he’s not actively recruiting players to join him in the City of Brotherly Love, he’s preparing to join Team USA in their gold-medal pursuit in the 2024 Paris Olympics. He’ll play in a star-studded roster that should send shivers up and down their opponents’ spines.

While American hoops fans are excited at the prospect of Embiid donning the United States on his chest, the issue regarding his health is still inevitably brought up. The Cameroon-born big man—while phenomenal on the court—has a well-documented injury history that could endanger his Olympic eligibility.
With such doubts in mind, it’s hard to predict if Embiid will be coming into Paris in full health. Fortunately, he gave an update that should clear all doubts about his availability for the USA program.
Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid assures Team USA fans that he can play in Paris 2024

The Philadelphia 76ers star, one of the bright spots in Philly’s six-game first-round loss to the New York Knicks, appeared at Paramount+’s Champions League Final coverage between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
While he mostly talked with hosts Kate Abdo, Theirry Henry, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards about football, he did discuss his health when asked about it:

It’s a good sign for Team USA that Embiid gave an encouraging status about his health in public. His NBA performance this season has been nothing to scoff at, with his averages of 33.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.2 blocks in the playoffs showing how well he could play for Team USA in Paris.

Moreover, it’s a good thing that he chose to represent the United States over France. While he wouldn’t have played regular minutes in Les Bleus due to Victor Wembanyama and Rudy Gobert already being there, the thought of Embiid being on the host nation’s side would have posed plenty of problems for the Red, Blue, and White.
