After a successful one-and-done year at Duke, Jared McCain made it to the NBA after the Philadelphia 76ers took him via the No. 16 pick of the 2024 NBA Draft.
The 20-year-old guard is known for his shot creation and playmaking skills. However, he is also known as a famous TikToker since he already has over 3.6 million followers, thanks to his viral videos and dance challenges.
And as he is about to start his NBA career, McCain said he plans to have his new Philadelphia 76ers teammates, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey, on his TikTok at some point during the 2024-25 campaign.
“If I could one day get Tyrese Maxey or Paul George in a TikTok that’d be amazing, but I’m not gonna force it in their faces by any means. Hopefully, I can get them in one after a big win or something,” McCain said in his exclusive interview with Daniel Donabedian of ClutchPoints.
“I’m gonna show up and have fun. You can have fun off the court and still work hard and make it to the NBA. So I’m just trying to change that narrative that you have to be so serious at all times. I’m always gonna find a way to be myself,” he added.
Jared McCain is the Philadelphia 76ers’ newest project
Because of how stacked the Philadelphia 76ers’ roster is, Jared McCain isn’t expected to do much for them in his rookie season, as he will be behind Tyrese Maxey, Kyle Lowry, Reggie Jackson, Eric Gordon, Kelly Oubre Jr., and Ricky Council IV in the pecking order.
In the meantime, McCain has to improve his efficiency and decision-making based on his Summer League performances for the Philadelphia 76ers.
In all eight games in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas, the former Duke Blue Devil averaged 11.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 28.6 percent from the field and 25.5 percent from three-point land.
