The Philadelphia 76ers should drop and cut off Joel Embiid and Paul George, as they currently do not serve any purpose in helping elevate the Sixers to a championship-caliber team—at least that is what former NBA player and now analyst Gilbert Arenas thinks.
In his show “The Gil’s Arena,” Arenas called out Embiid and Goerge and suggested to the Sixers management to simply just drop them off the roster, citing their availability and injury woes as the main reason.
“You should have cut the cord f***** weeks ago,” Arenas said. “Embiid, cut. Paul George, we’ll see. If not get healthy. They’re not going to help you win a championship this year. So, if they can’t help you win a championship, shut them down.”

George ended up missing the majority of the Sixers’ games during the early part of the season and has never played a back-to-back game ever since returning to the court recently.
Joel Embiid has had a long history of struggle with injury. His first two seasons with the NBA, years 2014-2016, were plagued by a right foot injury. Since then, Embiid has had injury cases every year which caused him to miss a lot of games every season.
Since 2022, Embiid has suffered from multiple injuries, mostly knee and foot injuries.
During the 2023-2024 season, Joel has played 39 games out of the 82 Sixers games played. For the current 2024-2025 season, Joel has only played seven games so far, out of the 25 games so far that the Sixers have played.
Philadelphia 76ers Big Man Gives Honest Thoughts on All-Star Game Changes: “I Think It’s Cool”
The upcoming 2025 NBA All-Star game received mixed reactions from league players and fans as it attempted to spice things up by changing the game rules and format. For one, the All-Star games would now be played in a mini-tournament format. In the midst of getting comments and criticism, Sixers center Andre Drummond thinks that the game is still cool.
“I think it’s cool,” said Drummond. “I mean, it’s different from what I’m used to, but it’s just trying to do different things to kind of bring more attraction to All-Star Weekend because it has gotten a little stale because it’s been the same thing for so many years. So I think they’re trying to make it a little more entertaining and more fun for guys to come out.”
Currently, the Philadelphia 76ers stands 12th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 7-15.
